SNES Advance Compatibilty List

This guide is an expanded version of Hiei-'s, which he no longer has time to update.

This is a list of the "Most Playable/Fully Playable" games with SnesAdvance 0.1 (and the latest bin+superdat). In this list, you'll only find games which work very well or near perfect.

Don't forget to download the latest SuperDAT and binary of SnesAdvance before making a GBA rom with these games.

If you know of a game which is mostly/fully playable and/or notice some games in the list which aren't playable, don't hesitate to say it here, or just email me at sephiroth2kATsnesadvanceDOT.org (replacing 'AT' with '@' and 'DOT' with '.' of course).

Note: Many games have messed up intros, but are playable anyway.

ActRaiser

Rom info: ActRaiser [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works great. Simulation parts slown down sometimes a bit. Mode 7 parts runs at 50% of the real speed. I finally managed to get the Mode 7 parts working in SnesAdvance, you have to use the second mode 7 "bin" release (not the last on SnesAdvance's website), click here to download it) and don't forget to put this one instead of the one you already have into your SnesAdvance directory before you build your rom.

Aladdin

Rom info: Aladdin [U] [!] (1.25 MB)
Works near perfect.

Asterix

Rom info: Asterix [E] [!] (512 KB)
Works good. A bit slow. Fews gfx corruption in the menus. A very minor problem with layers in-game.

Asterix & Obelix

Rom info: Asterix & Obelix [E] [f1] (1.5 MB)
Works great. Texts between level are unreadable.

Batman Returns

Rom info: Batman Returns [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works great. I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "15" in the "Scale %" value instead of the originally "30%" of the last superdat. It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see a bit the energy bar of you and of the ennemies, just enough to see them ^^; But if you don't like this value, just leave the original "30%" of the superdat, or search a one you like.

Bio Metal

Rom info: Bio Metal [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works great. Somes slowdowns when they're lots of sprites on the screen.

Blazeon

Rom info: Blazeon [U] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Bonkers

Rom info: Bonkers [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works good. A bit slow. Somes flickering on the main sprite.

Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage

Rom info: Bugs Bunny Rabbit Rampage [U] [!] (1.5 MB)
Works good. A bit slow sometimes.

Castlevania - Dracula X

Rom info: Castlevania - Dracula X [U] [!] (2 MB)
Works great.

Cool Spot (U) [!]

Rom info: Cool Spot (U) [!] (1 MB)
Works okay - glitchy sky, some missing/garbled gfx, a little slow - but playable.

Darius Twin

Rom info: Darius Twin [U] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Double Dragon V - The Shadow Falls

Rom info: Double Dragon V - The Shadow Falls [U] (3 MB)
Works good. Somes glitches on the background and on somes menus.

Dr. Mario

Rom info: Dr. Mario [J] [NP] (512 KB)
Works near perfect. The only problem is when you loose. The "Game Over" screen seems to crash the game, so when you want to play again, you have to reset the game. If you choose "VS. COM" at the title screen, the first choice isn't readable (cuz i change the Offset of the game to have the whole screen visible during the game), so here's the choice you have :
BLUE VIRUS (LEVEL: EASY) - Here's the unreadable one (but it's was easy to understand that's was the easy mode no ?)
YELLOW VIRUS (LEVEL: MEDIUM)
RED VIRUS (LEVEL: HARD)

Earthworm Jim

Rom info: Earthworm Jim [U] (3 MB)
Works near perfect.

Earthworm Jim 2

Rom info: Earthworm Jim 2 [U] [!] (3 MB)
Works near perfect.

Final Fight 2

Rom info: Final Fight 2 [U] (1.25 MB)
Works near perfect. I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "3%" in the "Scale %" value instead of the originally "30%" of the last superdat. It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see a bit the energy bar of you and of the ennemies, just enough to see them ^^; But if you don't like this value, just leave the original "30%" of the superdat, or search a one you like.

Final Fight 3

Rom info: Final Fight 3 [U] (3 MB)
Works good. A bit slow.

Gradius III

Rom info: Gradius III [U] [!] (512 KB)
Works near perfect.

Harvest Moon

Rom info: Harvest Moon [U] (2 MB)
Works good. A little problem of scrolling when the main character runs. There's a little help cuz the intro screen is garbled so you can't really see what you choose. After the intro screen appared, wait a bit (like 10 seconds), it's the same thing on the real snes. You have to wait a bit until you can made your choice on the title screen. After you've waited, the choice you're on is "How to Play", if you push "Up Arrow", you'll be on "Start" and if you push "Up Arrow" again, you'll be on "Continue", etc... The intro screen looks like that :

CONTINUE
START
HOW TO PLAY - The cursor appeared on this choice after you've waited the few seconds

Knights of the Round

Rom info: Knights of the Round [U] (1.5 MB)
Works near perfect.

Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past (U) [!]

Rom info: Legend of Zelda, The - A Link to the Past (U) [!] (1 MB)

Magic Sword

Rom info: Magic Sword [U] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse, The

Rom info: Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse, The [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works good. A little slow.

Mega Man VII

Rom info: Mega Man VII [U] (2 MB)
Works good. Somes bits slowdowns when there are lots of ennemies at the screen. A minor bug when you go into the menu screen and come back to the game, the background have somes bugs until you get to the next screen.

Mega Man X

Rom info: Mega Man X [U] [V1.1](1.5 MB)
Works good. Somes bits slowdowns when there are lots of ennemies at the screen. The water level is not very playable cuz of lack of transparencies (i think). The original rom have a bug which make the leg upgrade and somes others things dissapeared after you beat the level where you found them. To fix that, use the IPS patch made by DarkCube (click here to download it). Here's a password with the water level already beaten (don't worry, the life container which is in this level was taken ^^) :
Password (water level beaten + life container of the level taken) : 5818 - 2177 - 2364

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie

Rom info: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - The Movie [U] (1.5 MB)
Works near perfect. Somes bits slowdowns when there are lots of ennemies at the screen.

Musya

Rom info: Musya [U] [!] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Parodius Da! Shinwa Kara Owarai He

Rom info: Parodius Da! Shinwa Kara Owarai He [J] (1 MB)
Works great. On the player selection screen, the last choice can't be seen, so here it is what the real screen looks like :
VICVIPER
OCTUPUS
TWINBEE
PENTAROU - Here's the choice you can't see. For information, Pentarou is a Penguin ^_^;

Pirates of Dark Water, The

Rom info: Pirates of Dark Water [U] (1 MB)
Works good. A glitched line in the middle of the screen, but it didn't really affect the game play. Somes bits slowdowns when there are lots of ennemies at the screen.

Pocky & Rocky (U) [!]

Rom info: Pocky & Rocky (U) [!] (1 MB)
Works perfect.

Pop 'n Twinbee

Rom info: Pop 'n Twinbee [J] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Secret of the Stars

Rom info: Secret of the Stars [U] (1.5 MB)
Works good. A little slow. I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "5" in the "Offset" value. It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see full text into text screen ^^; But if you don't like this value, just leave the original of the superdat (which is 0 anyway so there's no value in the superdat ^^).

Sonic Wings

Rom info: Sonic Wings [J] (1.25 MB)
Works near perfect.

Space Funky BOB

Rom info: Space Funky B.O.B [J] (1 MB)
Works good. A bit slow. The "START" menu (Weapons & Items menu) is glarbed but works (use "L" to choose another weapon for example). I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "15" in the "Offset" value instead of the originally "30%" of the last superdat. It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see the indications which are on the bottom on the screen. But if you don't like this value, just leave the original "0" of the superdat, or search a one you like.

Street Fighter II - The World Warriors

Rom info: Street Fighter II - The World Warriors [U] (2 MB)
Works good. Background messed up.

Works good. A bit slow.

Super Buster Bros

Rom info: Super Buster Bros [U] (512 KB)
Works near perfect.

Super Castlevania IV

Rom info: Super Castlevania IV [U] (1 MB)
Works good. A bit slow.

Super Mario World (U) [!]

Rom info: Super Mario World (U) [!] (512 KB)
Works great. Sprite following seems broken (in VBA at least).

Super Metroid (JU)

Rom info: Super Metroid (JU) (3 MB)
Fully playable, aside from some gfx glitches - GigaMagusZ has actually beat the game:

"THE MISSION WAS COMPLETED SUCESSFULLY Clear Time 1:46 Item Percentage 100%
Aside from a few bumps, I could see people being able to beat this on a normal basis. The biggest challenge is without a doubt Phantoon, because you can't see him. Anyway, bosses I faced...
Ridley: Perfect. Everything about the fight works as well as the SNES version did. You can't see the acid pit below the platform, but that's not surprising. Anyway, he was fine.
Mother Brain: Any problems I had with Mother Brain were very minor. You can't see the bulk of her body, but you can see her head and legs, which is all you need. No problems, really.

Super Punch-Out!

Rom info: Super Punch-Out! [U] (2 MB)
Works great. Garbled background gfx, but otherwise okay. A problem (prolly an emulation problem) cuz a bug when you beat the three championship, the "World Circuit" which should be open then don't appear. To fix this bug, i advice you to use a save made with an SNES PC emulator like Zsnes or Snes9x (.srm files) with the "World Circuit" already enabled. I advice you to create a SnesAdvance rom only for "Super Punch-Out!" to be able to use the save without problem. The save didn't work on my VBA but worked with my Flash Card (who will play at SnesAdvance with VBA ? ^^; If you use a pc, play with Zsnes ^_^). Just load the .srm in a sram bank of your Flash Card.

Super R-Type

Rom info: Super R-Type [U] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Super Smash-TV

Rom info: Super Smash-TV [U] (512 KB)
Works near perfect.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV - Turtles in Time

Rom info: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV - Turtles in Time [U] [!] (?? MB)
Works near perfect.

Tetris Attack

Rom info: Tetris Attack [J] (1 MB)
Works near perfect. I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "18" in the "Offset" value. It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see near the whole fieldplay But if you don't like this value, just leave the original "0" of the superdat, or search a one you like.

Tetris Battle Gaiden

Rom info: Tetris Attack [J] (1 MB)
Works near perfect. After choosing your character (just after the title screen), you'll see a glarbed screen (which is in fact just an info screen which isn't emulated well). Just wait a few seconds and press the "A" button to pass through it. (Press somes another times if you press too fast, until the next screen appear).

Thunder Spirits

Rom info: Thunder Spirits [J] (1 MB)
Works good. A bit slow.

Twinbee - Rainbow Bell Adventure

Rom info: Twinbee - Rainbow Bell Adventure [J] (1 MB)
Works near perfect.

Whirlo

Rom info: Whirlo [E] (1 MB)
Works near perfect. I advice you when you create your rom with SnesAdvance Builder to put "-10" in the "Offset" value" It'll permit you (like the screenshoot) to see the whole text into the screens text.
